"The Flashlights" is a musical group comprised of two dudes and one chick who have been recording as a trio since early 2002.

Individually, we have played and sung along with every Folk, Blues, Country, Rock, British, Bubble Gum, Disco, Big Hair, Techno, Grunge, Pop, Hip Hop thing that ever came along.

But if the truth is to be told, somewhere along the way we realized the reality. That reality is that all 'current and passing fads' are just that ... 'current & passing fads'. However; there are some things that are 'current' but not 'passing'. There are some things that are eternal. Like God's love for us, Christ's sacrifice and The Word.

Please don't misunderstand. We aren't a bunch of Holy Rockin' Rollers. We are a bunch of sinners that have been forgiven. And we have chosen to use our talent to write, play & record songs that will be cool, fun, catchy and inspiring to others, yet worshipful to God, The Creator of the Universe.

Jon Mumma lays down a tasteful, dependable guitar, keyboard and vocal. He and his lovely wife; Joy, have written the bulk of The Flashlights library.

Joy Learn carries the lead vocal with her beautiful, strong and sultry vocals. Joy's writing & musical stylings are key to the sound. Joy's talent is most evident.

Rick Davis writes and uses his guitar to augment and dynamically punctuate that Flashlights sound.

In Conclusion and Elaboration; "The Flashlights" is an outgrowth of a need to celebrate the light of the goodness of God. The light of Christ in our lives should make us all “little lights”, or in our case "Flashlights” that become a beacon to those around us. Our mountain is the internet, our hope is in Christ. Our music is a reflection of the “light” that lives within us.

We freely give to you the music that God has given to us. Music stirs our souls and is the instrument in which we use to present alternatives to the darkness that is in the world today. Not all of our music celebrates Jesus in words but within our humanity we celebrate the lives that we are given.

We write worship music and we write songs about the everyday life that we all experience ... songs about work, vacation, driving, paying bills, family, TV, having fun, etc. and we try to offer up a positive message. We don't believe that all music presented today can be neatly divided into “Christian” and “Secular” categories. Most music today has some spiritual implication ... some good, some bad. We hope that as you listen to our music it will open your eyes ... as light in darkness ... to the spiritual nature of your life.

Our only hope is in God and in the salvation that Christ offers. For this reason we call ourselves “The Flashlights”. We wish to be a light in the darkness.

We hope you enjoy our music and that you will also enjoy all the great gifts that God wants to give you.
